Record automatic door safety depends on the complete entrance: moving leaves, protective zones, operating modes, locks and emergency arrangements. A door opening on approach is not a full protection check. A fire input does not, by itself, tell you whether the door should open or close. Identify the installed system, applicable documents and responsible personnel before arranging verification. A fault that could injure someone requires safe control of the hazardous area and professional resolution before normal operation resumes.
An opening demonstration covers only part of the entrance
One person walking through an entrance demonstrates one journey in one operating mode. It does not establish the response to someone remaining in the passage, movement beside a fixed screen, or a different locking or emergency condition.
For a sliding entrance, distinguish the main closing area from hazards beside a leaf moving towards a wall or fixed screen. A swing door has a different movement envelope, including its sweep and hinge-side geometry. A sensor count copied from another entrance does not establish the required protection for either arrangement.
| Area or function | Information the project record should identify | A distinction to keep visible |
|---|---|---|
| Approach activation | Side, activation device and operating mode | An opening impulse and protection for a person remaining in the passage are separate functions |
| Main closing area | Leaf travel, relevant detection field and system response | A reversal or stop at one point is not evidence for every position |
| Opening side and surrounding hazards | Moving leaf, screens, walls and accessible clearances | An observation at the centre of the passage does not verify a side zone |
| Modes, locks and emergencies | Actual components, command source and intended response | Normal travel, access locking, power loss and fire input need separate records |
An owner can collect existing drawings and safely obtained photographs and mark the questions that still need an answer. This table is a scope record, not an installation design, a test procedure or an acceptance decision.
A sensor name does not establish whole-door protection
The role of a device and its fit with the installed system both matter. Activation, presence detection and protection of a secondary closing edge are different functions. The sensor and replacement guide explains the reviewed RAD, RIC, AIR and AIS 290 roles without treating the series as interchangeable parts.
Protection evidence should refer to the actual entrance: which component is fitted, which zone it addresses, which document applies, what was checked and what the result was. A catalogue, a marking on the packaging or a quotation line saying “anti-trap sensor” does not complete that record.
Tell the maintenance party about changes around the door, including signs, shelving, mats, decoration and temporary barriers. Do not reduce a detection field, mask a sensor or relax protective settings simply to suppress unwanted operation. Establish the cause before deciding that sensitivity is the problem.
Keep fire, power loss and emergency operation separate
“Fire interface included” leaves important questions unanswered. The intended response comes from the door's role in the project and its actual configuration. The interface, operator, locks and power arrangements then need to support that response together.
Record's DFA 127 FIRE product information describes spring closing after a fire-related signal. Its DFA 127 INVERSE information describes spring energy stored during powered closing for the relevant opening application, including smoke and heat venting arrangements. These are different purposes. Neither description is approval of an unidentified door assembly or of its use in a particular country.
| Event | Answer needed from the responsible parties | Evidence to retain |
|---|---|---|
| Fire input with normal supply | Intended movement, input conditions, priorities and reset requirements | Project requirement, correct equipment documentation, interface record and verification result |
| Loss of mains supply | Separate responses of operator, locks and standby power; the site's safe access arrangements | Fitted equipment information, emergency plan and applicable checks |
| Use of an emergency device | Device identity, affected function, conditions of use and authorised users | Operating instructions, identification, training and site arrangements |
| Restoration of signal or supply | Whether manual confirmation is required, who restores which mode and what is checked | Return-to-service conditions and responsibility, rather than only a cleared indication |
These are questions for coordination, not instructions to disconnect power or simulate a fire signal. Checks involving building systems need the relevant responsible parties and suitable safety arrangements. Do not operate an unfamiliar emergency device merely to complete a worksheet.
The operator's role and the technician's role
The ordinary user needs the authorised operating instructions, permitted modes, reporting route and site emergency arrangements. Observing existing damage, an obstructing object or a displayed fault from a safe position does not grant permission to open the operator cover or change settings.
Installation, commissioning, technical inspection and repair belong to appropriately qualified, trained and authorised personnel. Experience with another automatic door is not evidence of having the correct documents, tools or permissions for this one. Ask the service party to identify the scope, personnel and records that the work will produce.
The reviewed system 20 user manual, 102-020110469 V2.7, separates inspection and maintenance in chapter 5 from the handling of safety-endangering faults in section 6.1. Establish whether that manual applies to the installed system. Do not transfer a button sequence, reset procedure or test method from one family to another.
Responding to unsafe movement or a protection fault
Where an abnormality could injure someone, stop further automatic operation, keep people out of the hazardous area and follow the site's arrangements for securing the entrance and providing safe alternative access where needed. The responsible personnel should use the applicable instructions and site conditions to determine the safe means of taking it out of service. Arbitrarily cutting power or locking an entrance is not a universal solution.
Record what has already happened: time, selected mode, affected side, full displayed text or number, and recent works, component changes or configuration changes. Photographs taken safely can help, but keep unrelated people, access codes and other sensitive information out of them. Do not recreate an incident for a video or repeatedly restart the system to see whether the fault disappears.
Do not place a hand or a person in the closing path to test protection. Reduced speed, an attendant, a suppressed alarm or bridged safety inputs do not restore a protective function. Technical verification should use the applicable manufacturer's method and test objects, with the scope and result recorded.
Make the return-to-service decision traceable
“Door working again” does not explain how the original issue was resolved. The record needs to connect the reported condition, technical findings, work performed and verification. Identify the actual part or configuration changed, document used, relevant zones and modes checked, affected interfaces and any unresolved item.
Use distinct statuses such as “completed with record”, “awaiting technical confirmation”, “not performed” and “not applicable, with reason”. A blank field is not a pass. A fault that was not reproduced should not automatically be described as eliminated. Assign an owner and next action to unresolved matters; a signature cannot replace resolution of a safety problem.
The person responsible for resuming operation needs a clear basis for that decision, including any limits established by the relevant technical party. Retain the record with the equipment information so the next service visit can start from the actual history rather than guess what changed.
Download the original blank door safety and emergency-state worksheet (English CSV). It records events, intended responses, evidence, results and responsibilities. It is a coordination tool, not a manufacturer's test form, a safety certificate or a fire acceptance document. A Chinese version of this guide provides the corresponding Chinese worksheet.
Reading standards and performance claims
A standard reference needs its full title, edition, scope and applicability to the project. Operating safety, fire separation, accessibility and specialist environmental requirements address different questions. Listing a standard does not establish that every product under a brand, or the installed entrance, complies with it. A standard edition cited in an overseas manual is not automatically the current requirement for a Chinese project or another destination country.
This guide does not prescribe a universal detector-point count, impact threshold, response time, service life or accident rate. Such figures need evidence for the exact product and configuration under stated conditions. It makes no promise of zero incidents.
The source review, dated 1 November 2026, used the system 20 user manual 102-020110469 V2.7, dated 16 February 2023, and official DFA 127 FIRE and INVERSE product descriptions. The manual has a specific equipment scope; the two product descriptions demonstrate different emergency purposes. This editorial review is not a design, test or compliance assessment of a particular entrance.

Frequently asked questions
Does opening on approach show that anti-trap protection is working?
It shows a response through a particular activation path under those conditions. Presence in the passage, surrounding leaf-movement zones, different modes and affected interfaces require checks under the applicable system documentation. One opening demonstration does not establish all protection functions.
Should every Record door open for a fire signal or a power failure?
No universal response follows from the brand name. DFA 127 FIRE information describes spring closing after a fire-related signal, while INVERSE has a different spring-opening application. Establish the intended project function, exact version, locks, supply, inputs and restoration arrangements.
Can an ordinary user test protection with a hand or by standing in the doorway?
Do not use a hand or a person in the closing path to test protection. Professional verification should follow the applicable method and use specified test objects. The user should observe, record and report under the training and site arrangements, without creating a dangerous situation.
Is a cleared safety alarm enough to resume operation?
A cleared indication does not show that the cause has been resolved. Confirm the work, relevant checks and results, unresolved items and return-to-service responsibility. A safety-endangering fault needs professional resolution and removal of the danger before operation resumes.
Can a sensor document or component report establish that the complete door is safe?
Not on its own. Check the document's subject and conditions, actual installation and configuration, relevant protective zones and functional verification. Component evidence does not replace assessment of the complete entrance and the project requirements.
Is this site's worksheet an acceptance certificate?
No. It is a blank tool for organising equipment identity, intended responses, evidence, verification results and responsibilities. Testing, acceptance and supporting documents must be provided by the appropriate parties under the project's applicable requirements.
